Esther Nissen was born in Cedar County, Nebraska, on February 21, 1895, the daughter of Peter Nissen and Hansene Tidemann. She lived her entire life in the vicinity of Laurel, Nebraska. She was married to Henry Poulsen in July 1912. They took over the Nissen farm near Laurel. Esther was the mother of two daughters and was pregnant a third time when she died from complications from an appendectomy.
Esther's daughters lived with their Nissen grandparents for several years until Henry Poulsen remarried. Esther is buried in the Laurel (Nebraska) Cemetery.
Louise Johnson had a photograph of her parents at the time of their marriage. It was in a domed glass frame and not suitable for copying. Hopefully someday I will get a copy of the photograph to share on this web page. For now I only have a photograph of her stone in Laurel.
