Mary Elizabeth Harris Taylor Minert Family

Mary Elizabeth Harris was born 01 Aug 1844 in Morgan County, Ohio, the first child of Elisha Harris and Margaret Patterson. She married James C. Taylor on 25 Dec 1870 at Lybrand, Iowa, and they became the parents of six children. They farmed in Post Twp and raised Clydsdale horses until the late 1880s, when they moved to Emporia, Kansas. James died in 1903 and in 1914 she married David Milton Minert, who is rumored to have been a childhood sweetheart. David Minert died in 1919. Mary died near Emporia, Kansas, in 1936, having survived both her husband and all six of her children.
